Het sculpturale werk dat Claire Holper voor Ontmoeting in het onmeetbare maakte is als een lichaam dat iets verbergt. Op gezette tijden toont het als het ware zijn innerlijk. Die associatie met de mens is niet toevallig. Holper kiest opzettelijk voor een object dat zich in zijn maatvoering verhoudt tot de toeschouwer en dat dus vertrouwd voelt. Voor Holper houdt het werk hier in de Nieuwe Kerk rechtstreeks verband met gelovigen en hun relatie tot dat geloof: “Iets dat er altijd is, maar niet altijd zichtbaar.” De context van het kerkgebouw geeft ook in ruimtelijk opzicht betekenis aan het werk, dat een sterke associatie wekt met (scherven van) glas-in-loodramen.
The sculptural work Claire Holper made for Ontmoeting in het onmeetbare (encounter in the immeasurable) is like a body that hides something. At set times it shows its inner self, as it were. This association with humans is not coincidental. Holper deliberately opts for an object that is proportionate to the viewer and that therefore feels familiar. For Holper, the work here in the Nieuwe Kerk is directly related to believers and their relationship to that faith: “Something that is always there, but not always visible.” The context of the church building also gives spatial significance to the work, which arouses a strong association with (shards of) stained glass windows.
